日本語 · The Japanese version is the original. If the two differ, the Japanese version governs.
This explains what information NUSHI ("the app") handles. The app does not ask you to register an account. It does not ask for your name or phone number. An email address is received only if you enter one as a reply address when contacting us (optional — you can send without it).
If you write your name, phone number or other personal information into a free-text field such as a contact message or a comment, it is stored as it is, as part of that text. Please do not write it. If you do, it is kept for as long as that text itself is kept.
Handling of information starts only after you consent, on first launch. Before you consent, we do not issue an anonymous user ID, verify the app and device, measure usage, or send crash reports. You can read this policy and the Terms of Use in full from the consent screen.
Handling of information falls into three groups: required, notifications, and optional.
| Group | What | Can you decline? |
|---|---|---|
| Required | Issuing an anonymous user ID, verifying the app and device | No — it is needed to provide the app (you would not be able to use it) |
| Notifications | Managing the delivery target (token) for notifications | Yes. Collected only if you allow notifications on your device. Everything works without it |
| Optional | Usage measurement (Google Analytics) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) | Yes. Off by default, and sent only if you turn it on. Everything works with it left off |
You can change the optional group later:
The required group cannot be withdrawn while you use the app. To withdraw it, stop using the app and delete it. Deleting the app also erases the record of consent held on the device, so you will be asked again next time you install it.
Note that running "Erase my data" from "Settings" deletes the posts and the old user ID that are stored, and then issues a new user ID so you can keep using the app. It deletes data; it does not withdraw the required handling itself.
Deleting the app on its own does not delete clips, comments or messages already posted to the server. If you want them deleted, run "Erase my data" before deleting the app, or ask us through Contact.
This website (nushi.me) may use Google Analytics to count which pages are read. We always ask first, and until you press "OK to send" nothing is loaded or sent for measurement.
For people who have deleted the app, there is also a contact form on the web (Contact). It does not go through the consent screen described above. It is handled as follows.
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous user ID | Issued when you start | To group posts as belonging to the same person, and to make reporting and blocking work |
| Email address | Only when you set up "handover" (optional) | To confirm you are the same person and carry your records over when you change device, and to send you notices from the operator. Not collected if you do not set it up. Depending on your Apple settings, we receive a relay address provided by Apple rather than your real one |
| Display name (nickname) and avatar image | When you set them | To show who posted. It does not have to be your real name |
| Clips, comments and chat messages you post | When you post them | To display them in the app |
| Likes (reactions to clips) | When you like something | To count likes and decide the monthly best trick and the lord's score |
| Spots you watch | When you watch one | To notify you when a new clip arrives at that spot |
| People you block | When you block someone | To hide their posts from your screen. They are not told |
| Report contents (target and reason) | When you report something | For the operator to check and act. Other users cannot see who reported |
| Notification preferences | When you change them | So we do not send notifications you turned off |
| Notification token | When you allow notifications | To deliver notifications. Other users cannot read it |
| Your message and reply address (optional), plus the OS type and version, and app version at that time |
When you send it | To read it and act, and to contact you where needed if you gave a reply address (we do not necessarily reply to everything). The OS and app version are used to work out which environment a reported bug happened in (they contain nothing that names or identifies your individual device) |
| The "filmed here" mark | When you post (if you allowed location) | To show whether you were near the spot you posted to. Only the true/false result, worked out on your device, is sent — never the coordinates themselves. It does not affect scores or whether a post is published |
| The account name to credit (optional) | When you enter one | To credit you when a post is used to introduce the app (Terms of Use 7-2). Nothing is collected if you leave it empty. If you enter one, it is shown outside the app when we feature the post |
| Spot location | When you add a spot | To show it on the map. This is the place you chose, not your current location |
| Attestation that the app and device are genuine (App Attest / DeviceCheck / Play Integrity results and tokens) |
When the app launches and communicates (automatically) | To block modified apps and automated abuse. The check runs through Apple's and Google Play's mechanisms. It is not information that identifies an individual |
| Firebase installation ID (an identifier issued per app installation) | When the app launches (automatically) | To manage the notification delivery target and to measure usage. It becomes invalid when you delete the app |
| Crash records (optional) where the app stopped or failed, device model and OS version, app version |
When the app stops or fails (only if you turned this on) | To find the cause and fix it. It contains no name, display name or post content, and is not linked to your user ID |
| Usage records (optional) which screen you opened / spot identifier and the number of clips at that spot / clip identifier / how far you got between filming and posting / clip length in seconds and whether you filmed it there or picked a saved one / whether you gave the trick a name (the name itself is not sent) / that you liked, commented, wrote in chat, watched, added a spot or reported / that you chose a display name / whether you allowed notifications / whether you are the lord of any spot |
When you use the app (only if you turned this on) | To understand where the app becomes hard to use, and improve it. Your name, display name, trick names, the content of clips and comments, and your location are not sent. Spot identifiers correspond to places registered on the map |
| IP address, device and browser information (User-Agent) | When you communicate (automatically, by Firebase Authentication) | To prevent abuse and keep the service safe. There is no mechanism for the operator to view this on a screen |
The following is used only on your device and is not sent to our servers.
We show no advertising. We do not collect advertising identifiers (such as IDFA), do not track for advertising purposes, and do not provide data to outside advertising companies. Usage measurement happens only within the scope in the table above.
The app is run using Firebase / Google Cloud from Google LLC (USA) as a processor. The uses are below. "Main processing / storage location" is the region specified for that service. For services where no region can be specified (shown as "Global" below), processing and storage may take place at Google's facilities or those of its subprocessors.
| Service | Use | Main processing / storage |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication | Issuing the anonymous user ID, and identity checks when "handover" is set up. IP address and User-Agent are handled for safety and abuse prevention | USA |
| Sign in with Apple (Apple Inc.) |
Used only when you set up "handover", to confirm you are the same person when changing device. No communication if you do not set it up | USA |
| Cloud Firestore | Records of posts, comments, chat, likes, watches, reports, enquiries and scores | Tokyo (asia-northeast1) |
| Cloud Storage for Firebase | The clips, thumbnails and avatar images themselves | USA (us-east1) |
| Cloud Functions for Firebase | Automated checks, score and lord aggregation, sending notifications | Tokyo and USA (where the functions run) |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Delivering notifications. The installation ID is used to manage the delivery target | Global |
| Firebase App Check (using Apple's App Attest / DeviceCheck and Google Play's Play Integrity) |
Verifying that the app and device are genuine. To block modified apps and automated abuse, attestation is sent to and judged by Apple Inc. (USA) and Google LLC (USA) | Global |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Collecting and aggregating crash records. Optional. Starts only if you turn it on | Global |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Usage measurement (screens opened, how far you got towards posting, and so on). Optional. Starts only if you turn it on | Global |
| Cloud Video Intelligence | Automated checks on clips (whether skateboarding is shown, whether there is explicit content) | USA |
| Cloud Natural Language | Automated checks on comments and chat (whether there is abusive, sexual or violent language) | USA |
| Cloud Vision | Automated checks on avatar images (whether there is explicit content) | USA |
These are processed under our contract with Google Cloud (data processing terms), within the purposes listed for each service in the table above. We do not sell or provide the data to third parties, except where disclosure is required by law.
As above, some information is handled by Google LLC in the USA as our processor. Where a processor outside Japan is used, safeguards equivalent to those required in Japan are necessary, so the operator relies on the safeguards the processor applies (access control, encryption in transit and at rest, auditing) under the contract with Google Cloud. What Google does is published at Firebase Privacy and Security.
Posts may be used to introduce, promote and advertise the app (Terms of Use 7) — on the operator's official accounts, the website, the store listing and similar. What leaves the app is:
Whoever holds a spot can send a link to it (https://nushi.me/s/…) from "Share" in the app. Anyone can open that link, including people who do not use NUSHI. What they see is:
The app is not intended for people under 13. If we find that someone under 13 is using it, we do the following.
The above is about people who use the app. Separately, there are cases where someone under 13 appears in a clip posted by someone else, because bystanders can end up in the background at skateparks and similar places.
The app is run by an individual. The operator's name and address will be provided without delay on request.
You may request notification of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of provision to third parties, for personal data we hold. The procedure is:
If this changes, we update this page. Important changes are also announced in the app.
Use the contact form on this site, or "Settings" → "Contact us" in the app. Comments and complaints about how personal information is handled also go through this one place. You can still contact us through the form after deleting the app.
